It is so disappointing to pick up the Sunday Inquirer and read such negative response to contemporarary art on a regular basis. This week your art critic, not content with his usual negative take on exhibitions, decides to review a PBS documentary, Art/21. I watched the first episode, interested to see if it was as boring and high brow as he was saying. Well, surprise, surprise! It was very informative, not full of so-called “art speak” and not boring in the least. Then again, I happen to be interested in contemporary art and frequently write about it. When are you going to offer some positive art criticism that moves beyond the tired parochial paradigms of painting and sculpture and helps advise the public in a positive and exciting way?
