I am Not Kurt Anderson!

My comments on Kurt Anderson's Vanity Fair article (and subsequent interviews) on our lack of substantive progress in the arts: I love Kurt but I have had his theory on retro culture for 20 years. To make a long story short, all the mini-chip development within our wired culture doesn't amount to real change although it is diverting in a grand way. Much art and cultural writing has predicted this 40 or 50 years previous. I am thinking of Guy Debord, famous Frenchman and situationist. Personally, I pretend it is still 1982 because I love the music! This is Steam Punk baby, boarding on track two! Leave the smartphone at home.
