BBC DISCUSSES MEANING OF ART!

I heard a short piece about Damien Hirst this week: conman or genius? The answer is of course within the question. They dug up an old stuckist critic who hates contemporary art and tons of blokes on the street who hate the bricks in the Tate. Somethings never change. It seems to me that it doesn't matter what you think of Hirst or his art. It is contemporary art and makes him a lot of money. If you dislike it, ipso facto, you don't like contemporary art. Simple. If you prefer landscape paintings with beautiful brush strokes and crafted mimesis, you have totally missed the boat. Simple. So a stupid fluff radio piece was actually stressing a profound point.
