DEAD WALKMAN?

This may be trivial, but I've just heard that Sony is discontinuing the Walkman. It seems to me that I have a vague memory of the first cassette Walkmans, seeing them on the NY subway and thinking, "is there not enough to occupy this person on a New York subway train." Ever since, I have been a fledgling luddite. I just don't buy the line about technology being an extention of the senses. Call me Old-Fashioned.
