THEORETICALLY?

It is odd. Where there is ample room for varied use and levels of theory in art, there are still hang-ups about how to utilize it. From experience I can tell you that it is invaluable but, as you age, it is subsumed into your practice without conscious effort. You accept that you have no more Master Narratives! That is not to say that mature dudes should not continue to dabble in reading and writing text. The more primary the better! There is always an application in the vernacular ie, art is not simply for the purposes of illustrating theory. Case in point, the novel I am embarking on is a trashy way to fictionalize an artist and real world obstacles. It only poses as the Great Post-American Novel! Many of those obstacles relate to the artists' inate feeling of superiority. It is for some, in a comedic way, without substance.
